Level Reach Function
The Pettibone Extendo Level Reach function is available on the Model B-66, a 6,000 lb. lift capacity leader and the Model B-68, an 8,000 lb. lift capacity loader. The Level Reach function gives precise horizontal load placement at heights between 14' and 35' controlled by an optional Munson joystick control with a Munson valve. A single push-button on the joystick gives the operator forward or rearward horizontal motion with a load.
The key to the Level Reach function is horizontal load placement and a constant, unchanging fork angle. Level Reach is a totally hydraulic function, controlled by a slave cylinder that senses the boom angle. Level Reach is especially effective at heights where it's difficult to see the tips of the forks. At a 14' lift height, the Level Reach function has 18' of forward horizontal reach capability.
Improved Model 930 RTFL
JCB Inc. introduces the improved model 930 rough terrain forklift to the North American marketplace. The new 6,000 lb. capacity 930 design stresses operator comfort, ease of operation and convenience.
The body and chassis design now gives operators new front fenders and steps for easier entry and exit, and a new sloping hood design for greater visibility to the rear of the machine. The 930 also offers a new heavy duty fuel tank and hydraulic tank with easier access.
Not only did JCB redesign the exterior of the 930, but we also improved the operator compartment. Some of the new cab features include an improved instrument console, hydraulic control levers angled toward the operator for easier reach, larger door width, bigger grab handles, improved Bostrum "U" series seat and many more.
Of course comfort and convenience are important, but the upgraded 930 offers much more. The introduction of the 1000 Series Perkins naturally aspirated engine, key engine shut off and the new JCB planetary drive axle give the 930 even more ability to get the job done. In addition to the clearview sideshift mast, there are two new mast features. The 37 degree hydraulic forward mast tilt, allows easier mast positioning from the operator's area when the mast is in the travel position and a mast restraint holds it firmly in position when at maximum lift. Outside mounted mast tilt cylinders allow for easier service access.
The new 930 still offers the features that have already made it such a popular choice in the 6,000 lb. lift capacity sector of the RTFL market. JCB gives a choice of two-wheel or four-wheel drive, four mast options and either standard carriage or ITA Class III carriage.
Add Boom Forklift
K-D MANITOU has added a 6,000-lb. capacity, 4WD telescoping-boom forklift to their line of rugged, low-maintenance reach trucks. The "Reach Chief" R635-4TC provides lift height to 35 feet, a 17-foot reach and features "joy stick" controls and frame-leveling. It is built with single large-diameter cylinder for simplicity and fewer lubrication points-making maintenance easier and operation more dependable.
The 3-speed, full-power-shift transmission is equipped with an "inching valve" for precise machine movement and load placement. A "triple steering" system offers front wheel, crab and 4-wheel steering for excellent maneuverability.
Two New Models
Two new models of high lift, rough terrain trucks have been announced by Hyster Company, Construction Equipment Division. The Z60A has a 6000-lb maximum lift capacity, the Z70A has a 7000-lb lift capacity. Both have a 35' maximum lift height to top of the forks.
The simple, three-section telescoping boom combines exceptional strength with matching efficiency. Boom cylinders cant in-continued on page 9
