1990 Looks Good

moving equipment distributors and engine dealers anticipate a 3.9% increase, while the general-line businesses expect a 4.5% hike in 1990 sales, compared to 1989.

Looking ahead to the next decade, most of the 226 AED survey participants expect continuing change and consolidation in the industry. Customers will work with well-run, professionally managed distributors, but will see fewer companies than we now have, observed a Minnesota light equipment dealer.

Fewer wide economic swings will even out the traditional peaks and valleys in the construction industry, the survey distributors predict. "It will be a decade of controlled prosperity," said a West Virginia general equipment distributor.
