Yet offers updated liveability for today's lifestyles. "We selected the Evans group because of their reputation in residential design. Curb appeal, distinction, and liveability were the key ingredients that has made this style a real winner for us," says Normington, Vice President of Capstone.
He further stated that it didn't take much for Evans to convince him that a unique and important design aspect for the home would be to position the garage to the rear of the home to increase the frontage that is house and allow human scale doors and windows in place of auto size garage doors.
Wozniak explained that his company is sensitive to the lifestyles of busy couples and families. "The all brick home provides the convenience of lower electric bills and reduced maintenance requirements associated with stucco and woodfaced homes. In addition, brick materials bring back comfortable memories of the past for those of us who grew up in neighborhoods with traditional brick homes. We built an all brick fireplace in the family room reminiscent of old-fashioned fireplaces with carved designs, ash drops, and real clay tile flues," he said.
Normington explains that the difference in the typical eight inch block and stucco wall construction to a stud frame construction for brick, allows for better insulation. He recommends using asphalt dimensional shingle with brick to fit the architecture of an all brick home. He says that the shingle material he used is guaranteed for forty years and requires no painting or pressure cleaning.
Another savings when building an all brick house includes reduced costs associated with brick masonry labor. "Brick masons can build an all brick home for less than laying decorative brick on elevation trim work," stated Normington.
Tampa Bay area brick mason Ed Branco of Branco Masonry says that he charged Capstone Builders twenty-five percent lower labor charges because of the increased volume of work. "Brick on the front of the home is most expensive due to more detail requirements, while sides and rears of homes are where we get production." Branco said. "Capstone provided us with special 45 degree angle brick for angled inside and outside corners, which saves us a lot of cutting. They also provided tapered arch brick from the brick manufacturer. All this saves cutting time and provides for better masonry workmanship," he said.
Another innovative aspect of the Capstone all brick home includes the installation of a "healthy home" system. The Evans Group and Capstone agreed that they should address the issue of clean air for this home. Wozniak says that the E.P.A. estimates indoor air can be ten to one-hundred times worse than outdoor air pollution. They contracted with indoor air specialists Pure Air of Clearwater to provide the specialized equipment for a healthy home. Normington says that special filter air systems, plus make-up air from the outside of the house were some of the items installed to make the Capstone home healthy inside.
