The owner, however, is not the only team member who benefits. Lewis points out that the architect/engineer will minimize exposure to errors and omission liability for document deficiencies through early identification of problems and cooperative prompt resolution-a response which minimizes cost impacts. And as an active team member, the A/E has an enhanced role in the decision making process providing interpretation of design intent and solutions to problems. Administrative costs are reduced because defensive case building is eliminated and claim administration and defense costs are avoided.
