The National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) will celebrate its 50th Anniversary Celebration and Convention, September 7-10, 2005, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Dallas, Texas. In honor of the past 50 years, Johnny Dee and the Rocket 88's will be headlining the event.

The convention will include inspirational speakers and networking events, as well as educational seminars and workshops to educate women in construction and prepare them for brighter futures. The meeting's keynote speaker, Cathy Larsen, will engage attendees with her keynote address: "Radical Ideas for Radical Results."

The celebration will conclude with the 11th Annual Crystal Vision Awards Gala, Saturday, September 10 at 6:30 p.m. Join us as we honor Crystal Vision Award recipient Faye Turner and Crystal Achievement Award recipient Edith Stanfield. These two Texans have done a phenomenal job advancing their goals for women in construction. A special video presentation will highlight the achievements of both individuals. The gala promises to be an elegant finale to NAWIC's 50th Anniversary Celebration and Convention.

NAWIC is an international association serving approximately 5,800 members in nearly 200 chapters in the United States and Canada. In 1953, 16 women working in the construction industry founded NAWIC, originally calling themselves "Women in Construction of Fort Worth, Texas." Knowing that women represented only a small fraction of the industry, the founders organized NAWIC to create a support network. NAWIC gained its national charter in 1955.
