Manitou North America Appoints Zander as Director

Manitou North America has appointed Kirk Zander to director of sales and marketing. Zander was initially hired as the Midwest regional sales manager, a position he held for six years. He has held the position of field sales manager for the last three years.

IMAS

IMAS first in the nation to eclipse the milestone of 1 million consecutive safe hours. In addition to the benefits produced for the individual employees, the financial benefits produced for the organization are shared with the entire team in the form of safety incentives.

While safety is an investment in the health and well being of the team, Seedorff believes that it is a fundamental responsibility. Direction for the safety program is a function of participation and feedback from a variety of sources at the crew level (all inclusive), committee level (by invitation) and management level (executive attention).

Two full-time field safety trainers and a risk manager administer the company's safety program and are responsible for facilitating all aspects of the program, including new employee orientation, safety training, incentive plans, job hazard analysis, quarterly area safety committees, jobsite audits, quarterly safety updates and policy development.

Orientation, training, recognition and innovative programs are driven from within the ranks, and a variety of tools that encourage participation and open, honest discussion exists.

Powers Fasteners Expands Team

Brewster, N.Y.-based Powers Fasteners Inc., a domestic manufacturer of mechanical and adhesive concrete anchoring systems, hired James E. Surjan as director of adhesive technology. Surjan will work with the VP of manufacturing on incoming inspection procedures for adhesive products, and with the director of engineering in the marketing group on technical documentation for both literature and code approvals.

The company has opened branch offices and warehouse facilities in Dallas and Houston, naming Chad Estill and Chris Salisbury as branch managers, respectively. Estill joined Powers in 2004 as a sales representative in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

The company named Kyle Thuenemann and Ed Gilliam as jobsite specialists for the respective branches. Thuenemann joins Powers after two years as a sales representative for Trainor Associates, the Powers sales representative firm located in Indianapolis. Gilliam previously served 13 years as a sales representative for Allied Fastener & Tool in Lake Worth, Fla.

Curtis Fickert was named branch manager, bringing to the company more than 10 years of experience in construction sales.
