Sakrete created the program in 2006 to raise money to help fight homelessness. The program tracks the number of quarterback sacks for each participating team. Six teams participated in 2007: Carolina Panthers, New York Giants, San Francisco 49ers, San Diego Chargers, Seattle Seahawks and Atlanta Falcons. Sakrete made a charitable donation of $5,000 in the names of each of the Sakrete Sack team leaders: Patrick Kerney of the Seahawks (14.5), Osi Umenyiora of the Giants (13), Shawne Merriman of the Chargers (12.5), John Abraham of the Falcons (10), Bryant Young of the 49ers (6.5) and Damione Lewis of the Panthers (3.5). In its two years of existence, the Sakrete Sack Program has raised $60,000 to help fight homelessness across the nation.
