Promoting our Industry

Jennifer MorrellJennifer Morrell Editor jmorrell@lionhrtpub.com

Given our shaky economy and the challenges we face from sky-high fuel prices, it's more important than ever that we encourage the use of masonry throughout the country. Answering this call is MasonrySystems.org, a comprehensive masonry Web site that will be considered one of our industry's leading information resources.

If you have not heard about and/or visited this dynamic site, you should.

Scheduled to launch in early-September, MasonrySystems.org is the brainchild of the Masonry Executives Council (MEC), a coalition of professionals from more than two dozen masonry associations. The group's mission is to unite our industry by providing a unified source of information and promotion for the total masonry wall system. MasonrySystems.org will make it easier for designers, builders and municipal officials to choose to use masonry for their buildings, and get all the information they need to design the wall system that meets their needs. With more than 250 different industry Web sites out there, MasonrySystems.org will simplify the search for critical information and serve as a portal to all the best resources available on the Internet.

I attended one of our regular MEC conference calls recently, and the anticipation for this site's launch had us all giddy. In addition to providing technical and visual content to this site, many companies have chosen to sponsor MasonrySystems.org. So, choose to support the hard work of the MEC and Ann Wolter, who is championing this project, by driving everyone you know to the site or choosing a sponsor package to put bucks behind the effort.

The widespread use of masonry is paramount in today's competitive construction market. How are you promoting our industry?
