CalStar Names Barry as CFO

CalStar, manufacturer of sustainable brick and masonry products, has appointed Jack Barry as its CFO. Barry has spent the last 20 years managing private and venture-backed companies in a range of C-level roles for a variety of industries, including solar, satellite communications, and food distribution.

“Jack’s diversity of experience, across a variety of categories and company sizes, brings key knowledge as CalStar continues its growth trajectory from startup to leading building products company,” said CalStar CEO Joel Rood. “In particular, his knowledge of LEAN principles and ability to maximize internal efficiencies will help CalStar maximize its high-volume manufacturing capabilities.”

Barry most recently served as CFO of Semprius, manufacturer of the world’s most efficient solar modules. Previous roles include CFO of Lionel trains; president/CEO of ASC Signal; CFO at Chef Solutions, a manufacturer and distributor of prepared foods and bakery products; and treasurer at Channel Master.

“Coming from the solar industry, CalStar’s sustainability story was a very compelling draw for me. There’s a significant value proposition at the company,” said Barry. “The product looks great, it’s green, and it costs less to manufacture. That’s a tough combination to come by—and a tough combination to beat.”
