By John J. Smith, Jr.

I would like to take this opportunity to invite all the members of the MCAA to attend this year’s Midyear Meeting in Park City, Utah, Sept. 12-14, 2012. It is a perfect time of the year to be in Park City. The fall brings magnificent fall colors to the mountain area and I am sure we will be in for a treat again this year.

This year’s Midyear will be special. We are rolling out our new education opportunities. These will be in the form of networking groups. Make sure you read about these as there will be something for everyone and this will be an opportunity for contractors to learn from each other. It is something I am excited to participate in.

This will also be the first year that we will honor our TEAM award winners at the Midyear Meeting. This is a great opportunity for award winners to bring their project participants to a great event and immerse themselves in the masonry world for a few days. In addition, we will honor our Vision Award winners and honor our first ever recipients of the MCAA Safety Awards.

We will cap this year’s meeting with a dinner at Utah Olympic Park. We will be in the Day Lodge, which is located directly off the summer jump practice area. We will have a special show by the Flying Aces who will perform ski jumps into the pool. We have even scheduled yours truly to make a special amateur jump. While I am a little anxious about the jump itself, I look forward to giving everyone a good show.

Registration is now available online at www.masoncontractors.org/midyear. I look forward to seeing you in Park City!
