Vented Heater
Champion Heater Company has introduced a vented heater with a front end stack. It is the only vented heater where all the heat goes out the front end, thus avoiding wasted heat. According to Champion, when other vented heaters, with the stack on top, are used non-vented, 40% or more of the heat is lost out of the top of the unit. Their new front end stack design puts all the heat out.
The new Champion vented heater will operate continuously for 21 hours on one tank of fuel. It burns kerosene or No. 1 fuel oil and operates on 120 volt AC current. Used with a stack, it circulates 1,900 cubic feet of smoke free, soot free, odor free heated air per minute.
The heater has two sources of air-one to support combustion and the other for air to be heated and circulated. Other features include automatic purging for safety and longer heat life, high heat safety switch and an Underwriter approved motor and burner unit the same type used in home heating systems. A remote thermostat which will provide substantial fuel savings is optional.

Filler Strips
A completely new concept for soft, pliable closure (filler) strips that will "stand up against weather and time" was recently introduced by the Building Rubber Division of Asphalt Corporation of America according to Dr. William F. Egloff, vice president of the concern.
This firm, a pioneer manufacturer of asphalt and rubber closures, calls the new closed-cell, ethylene-propylene (EPT) rubber "Perm-O-Zite". The following claims are made for Perm-O-Zite Closure Strips:
1. Immunity to ozone-strips won't get hard, shrink and fall out;
2. Ability to withstand high (300 degrees F) and low (60 degrees F) temperatures;
3. Moisture resistance absorbs less than one percent;
4. Good insulation value-same as fiberglass or rock wool;
5. Impregnable "skin" on both weather sides to keep out moisture.
The photo at left shows a typical pitch with smooth "face" and cellular body, while at the right is a highly magnified photo detailing the closed-cell character of the product. Each cell furnishes insulation value while maintaining moisture resistance, light weight and maximum stability. Extensive laboratory tests simulating over ten years exposure to sun, weather and aging showed absolutely NO deteriodation.
The cellular surface affords exceptional adhesion for mastic applications. It likewise permits bolting or nailing without splitting or cracking and without squirming whiplashing with a power drill.
Perm-O-Zite Closure Strips are supplied in all popular configurations. A compete list of available patterns and other helpful information may be obtained from the manufacturer write P.O. Box 826, Danville, Illinois 61832.
