Expansion Cement
MAGNAROK, the newest discovery in weatherproof expansion cement, now makes it possible to permanently fill a hole, patch a crack, or anchor a metal object in concrete or masonry in wet surroundings, indoors or outdoors. MAGNAROK expands as it sets, locks itself securely in place. After hardening, it is immune to rainfall, flowing water or even constant submersion, and is unaffected by weather exposure.
As a repair medium it is ideal for patching holes, cracks and breaks in sidewalks, driveways, swimming pools, monuments, seawalls, breakwaters, levees, piers, piling, abutments, tunnels, sewers, subways, reservoirs, dams, spillways, silos, pits, bridge supports, river locks, boat ramps, docks, steps, curbs, etc.
Application is quick, easy, simple. Merely mix MAGNAROK CEMENT with water to a thick, syrupy consistency and pour into place on horizontal surfaces or mix with less water and press into position like putty on vertical or sloping surfaces. Sets up in 30 to 60 minutes. In only 24 hours it is as strong as fully cured concrete. Final strength nearly 3 times that of concrete. Does not shrink after hardening. Contains no iron or rust-promoting chemicals. Unaffected by oil, grease and solve.
Manufactured exclusively by The Metalcrete Mfg. Co., 2446 West 25th Street, Cleveland, Ohio 44113.
Telescoping Boom
A new hydraulically-operated telescopic folding boom that offers the convenience of self-load ability and can fold itself out of the way of the payload has been introduced by the Hydraulic Materials Hand Handling Division of Omark Industries here.
The Prentice TFB-25 boom can be used as a self-loading delivery unit in a wide variety of industries, including the construction, railroad, utilities, highway construction, pipeline, steel and forest industries.
In use, its 16½ foot boom swings out to pick up loads with a hook on its end, place them on or off the truck. For travel, it folds into a compact unit 76 inches high and 96 inches wide.
The Prentice boom is powered by a gear-type hydraulic pump. Control valves are 6-unit stacked type with main relief set at 1800 psi. High tensile steel all-welded booms are hinged on 14 inch diameter stressproof steel pins mounted in Nylatron G.S. bearings.
Additional information and specification sheets are available from Hydraulic Materials Handling Division, Omark Industries, Box 188, Prentice, Wis. 54556.
Norton Tape
In poured concrete construction, untold hours and dollars have been spent in cleaning up unsightly fins produced when concrete seeps from the gap between forms of high-density overlay such as HDO-EXT, DFPA and similar panels. This seepage can be prevented and a smooth finish produced by sealing between abutting edges of the panels with pressure-sensitive tape of vinyl foam.
The recommended tape, a product of the Norton Tape Division at Troy, N. Y., is 34 in. wide and 1, ½ or in. thick. It is applied rapidly from 50-ft. rolls; compressed between the forms, it provides an effective seal against seepage, with the added advantage that it prevents chipping of the overlay next to edges when the forms are released.
Safway Brochure
Cost-cutting masonry scaffold systems are the subject of a four-page brochure available now from Safway Steel Products. Large illustrations show how Safway scaffold frames and accessories enable masonry contractors to erect the work platform needed to make any size job move with top speed and efficiency.
Three different scaffold systems from the complete Safway line are described. They are the mobile bracket system, the standard frame system and the J-line system.
Safway's unique mobile bracket is said to give contractors time and labor savings of 25% or better. It features an easy-to-use hand winch and a 26-inch wide platform that allows masons to work continuously at the level most convenient for them.
Standard Safway scaffold frames are cope-welded steel tubing for extra strength. Both open end and ladder-type frames are available, along with screw jacks, side brackets and a full line of accessories.
Safway J-line scaffolding frames are 4 feet wide, an advantage for interior use where work area is limited. They are easily carried in the rear of a pick-up truck from job to job.
Copies of the Masonry Scaffold Systems brochure, form no. 2-115, may be obtained from any Safway Steel Products distributor, or by writing to: Safway Steel Products, 6228 West State Street, Milwaukee, Wisconsin 53201.
Site Sanitation
Builders and contractors can save $5,000 per month and more by using new, aircraft-type sanitation equipment on the job site, it was announced by a leading manufacturer of sanitation equipment.
According to a cost analysis study prepared by Monogram Industries, Inc., entitled "Construction Site Sanitation: A New Approach, total monthly costs for a single job-site toilet may vary from under $60 to over $350. The study points out the very substantial savings now available with the Jet-O-Matic toilet, an electrically operated, recirculating flush toilet similar to equipment manufactured by Monogram for commercial aircraft.
Copies of the study are available free of charge from Monogram Industries, Inc., 6357 Arizona Circle, Los Angeles, California 90045.
S-10 Moto-Bug
PCM Division of Koehring Company, Port Washington, Wis., is offering literature on its new version S-10 Moto-Bug, a power operated material handling buggy which is operated from a stand-on platform.
The S-10 which features integrated hydrostatic drive and dead man safety control, can be equipped with either a hopper body or a tilting platform bed. Smooth acceleration and deceleration insure greater operator safety. Because there are no clutches, belts or chains to maintain, the S-10 requires very little maintenance. A simple rope control provides instantaneous gravity discharge. (Note: Inquiries from the United States and Canada should be directed to PCM Division of Koehring Company, Port Washington, Wisconsin. Others should go to Koehring Overseas Corp., San Juan, Puerto Rico.)
