Masonry Magazine February 1974 Page. 19
BIA will continue its 1974 advertising program with a heavy schedule of full-color pages of ads in 12 magazines. In continuing BIA's builder promotion, the schedule will include continuation in Apartment Construction News, House & Home and Professional Builder. New this year will be the three full-color back pages in the NAHB Journal-Scope and three issues of Brick Builder Notes will be bound into the center spread of the magazine, which has a distribution of nearly 80,000 copies throughout the country.
Also, BIA has prepared a new builder advertisement which emphasizes the need to order brick early and has re-worked both the single-family and townhouse ads, while leaving the award-winning "wolf" ad unchanged. BIA thus will have four dramatic, full-color ads for the residential market in 1974.
The program change will mean more advertising in the architectural market through full-color ads in both Architectural Record and Progressive Architecture. These ads will be centered around an energy theme and will clearly show why the brick wall is unquestionably the greatest energy-saver available to architects and engineers today.
Shelter advertising is continuing through special editions of House Beautiful and House & Garden magazines. The ad will stress the many advantages of brick over both its competitors and the elements of nature.
Finally, BIA will enter the booming "do-it-yourself" market with a new ad. The magazines for 1974 will include Building Products Guide, Family Handyman, Handymanual and 1001 How To Ideas. It became very apparent, after the first Family Circle article several years ago when well over 100,000 persons wrote to BIA requesting barbecue plans, that this market has tremendous potential and is not currently being promoted through national advertising.
