GSA Modifies Listing of Certain Subcontractors
The federal General Services Administration has announced a change in policy on the listing by prime contractors of certain subcontractors at the time of bidding. Instead of having to list any sub whose contract is more than 32% of the overall contract, the new policy would require listing of subs whose contracts exceed 6%.
The new policy was expected to become effective sometime in December, 1977, and would apply to new construction over $150,000 and remodeling over $500,000. Originally GSA had proposed to eliminate the subcontractor listing requirement.

Society of Architects OK's Member Advertising
The Society of American Registered Architects (ARA) became the first architectural organization to give its members the "green light" to advertise in newspapers and professional and trade publications. The resolution was unanimously adopted at the society's recent annual convention.
Two other resolutions were adopted at the three-day meeting. One recognized architects as "master builders" and encouraged their involvement in construction management, joint ventures, design-building teams, development and ownership.
The other resolution noted that "ethical conduct of an architect be guided by the golden rule, i.e., architect helping architect, and by professionalism."
Passage of the resolution on advertising is expected to open the door for other related organizations to follow suit. The ARA said that it would review members advertising periodically and "offer constructive comments wherever necessary." It added, "We are dealing with professional people who, we believe, will follow the dictates of advertising in good taste and in a professional manner."
