Carson Pirie Scott & Co.
Department Store
Forsyth, Illinois
Honorable Mention-Green Ribbon Award

Architectural interest was achieved entirely with yellow/buff brick, which is the client's standard. By using special shaped brick, the angles and compound angles were incorporated into the detailing, resulting in a unified thematic treatment of the entire building, accented at the entrances.

The major relief of the otherwise flat facade was realized in similar brick detailing of the garden wall of the restaurant. The interior of the wall is composed of a brick mural, executed in Denmark and reconstructed at the site.

A. Epstein & Sons, Inc., Chicago, was the architect, with C. Iber & Sons, Inc., Peoria, III., the general contractor, and Evans-Mason, Springfield, III., the mason contractor.
