QUEEN AIR
continued from page 19
And the veteran mason contractor practices what he preaches. Snell has installed both a Queen Air and a Sir-Q-Lator unit in his spacious 40 ft. by 80 ft. home in Hinckley, a short distance from Akron, Ohio, where he performs most of his work. Both units, he says, adequately heat his home during the winter. He plans to even add a duct from his forced air unit to his greenhouse for heat there.
"Fireplaces like this may very well be the energy source of the future," Snell believes. "In a time of rising prices for electricity, gas and fuel oil, people will have to resort to a less expensive method to heat their homes."
He further points out that, from the standpoint of ecology, wood produces no pollution when it is burned, such as coal and other fuels do. Woodburning fireplaces simply release the natural solar energy stored in the wood. The smoke which is produced is merely a transformation of energy which would have occurred similarly if the wood had decayed naturally.
It has been a long while since Count Rumford began tinkering with fireplace design in order to come up with something better in the way of heating efficiency. With this history repeating itself now, the future of energy-efficient fireplaces looks bright indeed. And so does the future of the mason contractor who builds them.
Sunday Lesson
A bus driver who entered a small church at the beginning of the service sat in the very first row. After the sermon the preacher went to the man and asked why he sat in the front row, all alone. "Well," replied the driver, "I just wanted to see what you did to make everyone move to the back."

We Build 'Em That Way On Purpose!
The plaster and mortar mixer shown in this ad is a thirty-five year old Essick Model 141D. We picked it because at 35 it's still going strong for a busy contractor who doesn't really care how old it is, only how well it works. We also picked it because it illustrates an important point: Essick mixers are built to last and we can prove it! And here's something even more important to you. The old Essick 141D was good (and still is), but today's Essick mixers are even better. Today's Essick mixers offer all the features of the old 141D, the rugged construction, and durability, completely sealed transmission and clutch for positive engagement between engine and paddleshaft, plus such outstanding features as self-adjusting, spring-loaded paddleshaft packings that never require greasing. Yesterday's Essick mixers were great. Today's are even better! Write for free information!
