PAYS DIVIDENDS
Training apprentices has long been a major objective of both the Bricklayers Unions and the various Chapters of the Mason Contractors Association of America. One outstanding program that has gained the attention of both educators and segments of the trade is the one currently underway in DuPage County, Illinois, under sponsorship of Local #56 of III., and the Mason Contractors Association of DuPage County. Here it is shown that schools and apprentice training can work hand in hand when the best of each are utilized to the benefit of the trainee.
All the facilities are located in Willow-Brook High School, Villa Park, III., and School District #88 has given full cooperation in setting up the apprentice program. The course has use of audio-visual equipment such as projectors, both movie and slide, screens, etc., so that wide use can be made of industry educational materials at little or no cost to the program.
Since welding has become a tool of the trade, great emphasis has been placed on training not only the apprentice but of making this segment of the program (continued on page 26)
