Skil's Construction Division now markets concrete vibrators, power trowels, concrete screeds, generators, alternators, pumps and Skilsaw power saws, in addition to a variety of soil compactors and several gas, air and electric hammer models. A new 67,000 square foot plant was recently opened in Mansfield to house expanded production facilities.
Form New Division
Formation of another new building materials division has been announced by Merry Brothers Brick and Tile Co. of Augusta, Ga. The new division will manufacture and sell exposed aggregate light weight building panels.
A new manufacturing facility, utilizing more than 12,000 square feet of floor area, will be housed in an existing building on Wilkinson Road in Richmond County, according to Dorroh L. Nowell, Jr., Merry's president. L. James Taylor, previously the manager of the company's Marketing Services Division, will be the manager of the new panel division.

Grant N. Reinhold, President of Anchor Concrete Products, Inc. announces the sale on December 31, 1967 of its Haydite Division located in Jewettville, N.Y., where it manufactured lightweight rotary kiln expanded shale for concrete blocks, structural, insulating concrete, and concrete for refractory purposes. The Aggregate Division of J.P. Burroughs & Son, Inc., a diversified corporation with headquarters in Saginaw, Michigan, has acquired the assets of Anchor Haydite Division of Anchor Concrete Products, Inc. of Cheektowaga, New York, a suburb of Buffalo.
New SCPI Case Study
A unique blend of brick bearing wall construction and concrete structural frame has solved a cost problem for the Springfield Housing authority. A case study of the project is available from the Structural Clay Products Institute.
When unfavorable bids were received on a 14-story "Housing for the Elderly" apartment, (designed with interior concrete frame and exterior loadbearing pre-cast panels) the architect turned to brick. The panels were replaced with an 8-inch brick bearing wall. Architect E.W. Henderson says the combination not only reduced the construction cost, but allowed a floor every four days.
Industry Survey
For the first time since 1939, the construction industry will take an active part in developing the overall picture of the Nation's economy by participating in the 1967 Economic Censuses, according to the U.S. Department of Commerce's Bureau of the Census.
The Bureau of the Census now publishes monthly construction statistics such as housing starts, building permits and value of new construction put in place. However, no attempt has been made since 1939 to provide a detailed picture of the businesses and establishments in the construction industry like that provided by the reg-
