'81 MCAA Masonry Conference Highlights
Wednesday, February 25, and Thursday, February 26, 1981
The MCAA Education Committee, under the chairmanship of Carl Schiesser, will conduct a Pre-Conference Management Institute titled "Masonry Construction Forum." This three-part seminar, with Part I beginning at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 25, will explore three timely and important subjects that directly involve the mason contractor in his daily business routine-"Insurance and Bonding for the Mason Contractor," "Loadbearing Masonry-Challenge of the 80s," and "Reinforced Pre-assembled Masonry Panels." Ten extremely knowledgeable speakers from the masonry, surety bonding and insurance fields will be on hand to lead the discussions.
On Thursday, February 26, starting at 9:15 a.m., Parts II and III of the Management Institute will be presented. Loadbearing masonry construction and reinforced masonry panels will be fully explored by a structural engineer and a team of mason contractors, all of whom have had extensive on-the-job experience with this type of work. Those in the audience will have a first-rate opportunity to learn more about those two innovative systems and have their questions answered by the panelists.

FRIDAY, February 27, 1981
Official registration will begin at 8:00 a.m. for MCAA's 31st Annual Masonry Conference. The entire day will be devoted to Association business and consist of meetings of all working committees and Regional Vice Presidents' conferences. The MCAA Executive Board will convene at 3:00 p.m. and stay in session until all business is completed. Earlier in the day, at 8:45 a.m., the Board of Directors of the Canadian Masonry Contractors Association will hold their meeting for Region J.
SATURDAY, February 28, 1981
Again this year, the well-received Saturday Morning Workshops will be presented-four in all. These group participation seminars will make it possible for members to engage in a variety of presentations. The staggered time format will allow you to choose any three of the four workshops best suited to your individual needs. Subject matter to be covered includes "Manpower in the 80s," "ESOP-Employee Stock Ownership Plan," "Industry Promotion." and "Ten Steps to Successful Automation."
The discussion leaders will consist of Robert Ebeling, chairman of the International Masonry Apprenticeship Trust (IMAT): Robert A. Manley, president. The Commonwealth Group, San Francisco, Calif., a specialist in ESOP financing: Ray Lackey, executive director, International Masonry Institute (IMI), Washington. D.C., and William C. Veneris, president, Interactive Management Systems Corp., Colorado Springs, Colo., an expert on micro and mini computer systems.
